Tribute Bands Tribute

//Our next show is at the Waiting Room on Saturday, November 28th, 2009, from 9pm to close. Opening the night are Pink Floyd (Fleuydian Slip) and Rush (White RUSHians) tribute bands. Should be an interesting time. Strap on the beer goggles and you'll swear the real bands were really there!
[Buy tickets here]

Fleuydian Slip explores the depths of Pink Floyd's catalogue with stunning musical accuracy while utilizing an intense multi-media show. Made up of some of Omaha's most talented players - Fleuydian Slip guarantees to blow the minds of even the most casual Floyd fan. Band members include Tomm Roland on drums, Rick Avard on piano, Darren Pettit on synth and saxophone, Steve Gomez on bass, Ben Zinn on lead guitar and Billy McGuigan on lead vocals and guitar. Don't miss your trip to the "dark side"!

White RUSHians are a bunch of folks who should know better, but still haven’t quite learned to say “no”. With the apparent idea if imposing self-loathing and pain drummer Tomm “Sawyer” Roland (like Neil also called “professor” but for less cool reasons) decided he wanted to put together a Rush (the band, not the crazy fat drug addict) project. After living and playing together in exile for a couple of months this past summer he managed to convince Steve “Dirkish” Gomez (bass) and Ben “Lerxst-Like” Zinn (guitar) to sign on. Dirkish decided that he didn’t like playing bass with his feet so they recruited Rick “who-the hell-is Pye Bubois?” Avard to cover keys. Since none of the aforementioned musicians are singers, it didn’t quite occur to them that singing the stuff just might be rather damn hard. Who in Omaha is up to the task hitting those stratospheric Geddy notes? Come to the Waiting Room on Nov 28 to rock out to some classic Rush and discover the identity of the mystery singer!

Another Video Posted

//We've recently posted another video to our A/V page, New Year's Day. Don't forget to check out the other songs, Beautiful Day and Vertigo. All of them are full length and available in high-quality on YouTube. The vids were recorded during our Bono Birthday Bash, at the Waiting Room in downtown Benson (a great venue in Omaha), and are some of our best recordings to date. [more...]

Me2 - the U2 Experience

Dublin, Ireland, 1976 - Drummer Larry Mullen Jr. posted a note at Mount Temple Comprehensive School looking for people to join a band. That band became U2, arguably one of the world's most popular bands, even thirty years later. Omaha, NE, 2006 - Drummer Mike Daeges assembled a group of four musicians/friends after conceiving a uniquely befitting name for a U2 tribute band. That band is Me2.

Me2 deliver intense and sonically accurate reproductions of shows with songs that span the entire U2 catalog, from the debut album Boy through the 2005 release of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. Me2 represent some of the most talented musicians in the area:

Billy McGuigan is Bono - lead singer. Billy is a nationally recognized actor, musician and singer based in Omaha, Nebraska.  His interpretation of Buddy Holly with Rave On has taken him all over the United States and is currently running at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Billy also released his first solo album of original music called Billy As Billy in the summer of 2006.
Jay Hanson is The Edge - guitarist. Through a combination of musical talent and 12 month's worth of musical acquisitions from eBay, Jay has gone beyond approximating the sounds of U2's guitar wizardry; he has mastered them. His contributions seal Me2's sonic authenticity. Jay is also a member of The Omaha Project, an original pop/folk band based in Omaha.
Brad Dienstbier is Adam Clayton - bass guitarist. Simply put, Brad's penchant for accurate performance and tone give the music steadfast direction and stability. Similar to Adam Clayton, if Brad were a football player, he'd be one of the unsung heroes blocking on the line. However, he and Adam are the best dressers. Along with Jay, Brad is also a member of The Omaha Project.
Mike Daeges is Larry Mullen Jr. - drums. Mike has always had an appreciation for the unorthodox rhythms that have become a signature in U2's music, citing "Sunday Bloody Sunday" as a great example. He is also a member of Omaha funk and soul band Satchel Grande and has an album's worth of original material he will record in 2007.

U2 fans and the curious alike can expect to hear Me2 perform songs that Bono defines as the "best bits of their past:" "I Will Follow," "Sunday Bloody Sunday," "Bullet the Blue Sky," "Where the Streets Have No Names," "Beautiful Day" and "One." Serious U2 fans will also enjoy some of the more discerning flavors U2 have served up over the years like "Lemon" and "Discothèque," as well as rockers like "Vertigo," "Elevation" and "Zoo Station."

Considering that U2 was named the number one band to see live in a recent Spin magazine article, Me2 have chosen a great act to follow. And they are following through!
